Day one of racing at the USCSA National Championships at Mt. Van Hoevenberg delivered a historic performance for the CMU Cross Country Ski Team, highlighted by Greta Bochenek’s national title in the 7.5K classic.
Racing in challenging, spring-like conditions with temperatures pushing 50°F, Bochenek executed a composed and powerful race, winning in 23:11.1 and breaking the field beyond a tight battle at the very top. Behind her, a deep and competitive field showcased the strength of collegiate skiing, with athletes from St. Olaf, Paul Smith’s, Wyoming, and Western Colorado all in contention.
CMU backed up the win with strong team performances, including Ruthie Richardson’s top-20 finish, while Mya Taylor and Jane Malouf gained valuable experience on the national stage.
