Colorado Mesa University is proud to present the first-ever U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Cross Country Ski Racing Festival at Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center in Granby, Colorado. Mark your calendars for January 24-26, 2025, because this is an event you won't want to miss!

High school skiers are invited to race alongside college students, creating a unique opportunity for young talent to showcase their skills. There will be two categories of ski racers: Junior U16 and under (under 16 years old as of January 25, 2025) and Collegiate U18 and older (16 years old or older as of January 25, 2025). The festival will feature two races:

  • Friday, January 24, 1 pm: ski and socialize with the college teams
  • Saturday, January 25, 10:30 am: 15K (college and high school) and 7.5K (junior/high school only) skate ski race, part of the Grand Nordic Skate Race citizen race
  • Sunday, January 26, 10:30 am: classic sprint ski race

Both races will count as USCSA point races for collegiate racers. Participating colleges: Colorado College, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University, Denver University, University of Wyoming, US Air Force Academy, and Western University

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category for both female and male racers. We will be giving away products from Swix, Fischer, Atomic and Loki to registered racers.

To kick off the festivities, we're offering an optional day on Friday, January 24, 2025, exclusively for junior skiers. This day will provide a unique opportunity to mingle with college teams and their coaches, forming connections for the college years. It's the perfect chance for junior skiers to learn from the best while enjoying the camaraderie of the cross country ski community.

Get your skis waxed, your spirits high, and prepare for an unforgettable weekend of cross country skiing excellence at the USCSA Cross Country Ski Racing Festival. We can't wait to see you at the event!

Wax Rules

To ensure fair competition and lower expenses for athletes and teams, USCSA-RM teams have collectively implemented a rule mandating that all athletes use the same glide wax. The specific temperature-range glide wax to be used for each race is determined by the race organizer. Only non-World Cup level waxes are allowed; for example, Swix PS or Swix HS are permitted, but Swix TS is not allowed. Grip wax choice is left up to the individual racer.

  • Only NON-fluorinated kick (grip) and glide waxes may be used.
  • Glide wax for January 25 skate race: will be posted on January 22 at 9 am
  • Glide wax for January 26 classic sprint race: will be posted on January 22 at 9 am
